The stiffness and pain from arthritis is often quite responsive to massage therapy.
While massage obviously doesn’t alter the arthritic bone growth, addressing the muscles and tendons that surround the joints can soften the tissue, which in turn relieves some of the extra pull or pressure on the on joint, decreasing pain.
As stiffness decreases and range of motion improves, more synovial fluid is generated lubricating the joints and enhancing flexibility. Thus massage can be extremely beneficial.
